| YEE is a NEA-run course that aims to nurture and build a network of youth who will become
leaders and change agents in moving their peers and the community towards environment ownership and sustainability.
What are the most important things you learnt from the YEE course? How have you benefited from the course?
I have learnt how to implement environmental projects, how to communicate the green message to other youths, and the need for a holistic approach to sustainability. I also had the opportunity to meet like-minded youths and share our green ideas.
How have you applied what you learnt in your personal life?
I became more conscious on how to communicate the green message to other people, especially youths. When I speak on environmental issues, I emphasise a holistic approach and to focus on the solutions instead of the problems.
How have you applied what you learnt for the benefit of youths in Singapore?
Together with ECO, I was involved in organising the National Youth Environment Forum, where youths come together to discuss various environmental issues. The project management skills learnt from the YEE course helped me to better organise the Forum.
I also wrote an ebook called “What On Earth Are You Doing?” (free download
at http://whatonearth.wordpress.com/book/), and founded the AsiaIsGreen website
(http://www.asiaisgreen.com) to promote environmental awareness and action among
Singaporeans and youths.
Would you recommend the YEE course to other people? If so, why?
If not, why not?
Yes, it’s a good platform to meet peers who share the same environmental interest and to work together on projects that help achieve sustainability. |
